HDMI and CVBS Video Output

The decoder provides both HDMI and CVBS outputs, allowing IP video to be displayed on different types of monitors.

HDMI supports up to 1920×1080 at 60fps, while the CVBS interface provides an analog video output for equipment that does not have an HDMI input.

This makes the board suitable for upgrading existing video equipment while maintaining compatibility with legacy displays.

RTSP IP Video Decoding

The ON2180 receives video through Ethernet and decodes network video streams directly on the board.

Users can configure the RTSP stream through the web interface and connect the decoder to an IP camera, video encoder, network video transmitter, or other compatible IP video source.

The board can support up to four RTSP video streams simultaneously, with the streams displayed in a combined multi-view layout.

Compact Embedded Design

The main decoder board measures only 38 × 38 mm and weighs approximately 10.9 g.

For easier system integration, an optional interface expansion board provides standard connectors for:

  • RJ45 Ethernet
  • HDMI
  • USB
  • USB Type-C
  • CVBS
  • Power and control interfaces

The expansion board and decoder board can be stacked together, providing a convenient development and integration solution.

Audio Support

The decoder supports:

  • G.711 audio
  • AAC audio
  • HDMI audio output
  • Analog audio input/output
  • Two-way voice communication

Audio functions can be integrated into network monitoring, communication and embedded video applications.

How It Works

IP Video Source → Ethernet → ON2180 Decoder → HDMI / CVBS Display

The decoder receives a compatible IP video stream through Ethernet, performs hardware video decoding, and outputs the decoded video through HDMI and CVBS.

This architecture provides a compact way to add IP video decoding and display capability to an existing embedded product.

Why Choose an Embedded Decoder Board?

Compared with using a complete set-top box or industrial computer, an embedded decoder board can reduce system size and simplify integration.

The ON2180 is designed as a board-level solution, making it suitable for equipment manufacturers and system integrators who need to integrate IP video decoding directly into their own products.

For OEM/ODM projects, Onvon can evaluate hardware, firmware, interface and software requirements and recommend a suitable customization approach.
