Note
When the COFDM-905T transmitter and COFDM-905T receiver form a point-to-point wireless video transmission system, the video delay indicator:
The three indicators of video delay, video bit rate, and air interface rate are the mutual influence and mutual restraint. When the air interface rate is greater than 5 times the video code rate, the video delay is minimum. In this case, the actual test is that the video delay is about 60 ms when the code is transmitted at 720P@60, and the video delay is about 130 ms at 1080P@60. The delay refers to the delay from the HDMI video input at the transmitting end to the HDMI video output at the receiving end, excluding the delay of the front-end camera of the transmitting end (we measured the delay of a brand SLR camera at about 70 ms, and the delay of a famous brand sports camera at about 130 ms). For most application scenarios, the video delay is set to about 200ms by default.
When the COFDM-905T transmitter and the COFDM-905R receiver form a point-to-point wireless video transmission system, the transmission distance is:
The wireless transmission distance is related to many factors such as the test environment, ambient electromagnetic interference, occlusion conditions, air humidity, working frequency, wireless bandwidth, and transmitting and receiving antennas. Actual test results: a customer test, unmanned aircraft mounted ST100 transmitter to fly about 100 meters high, set to 4M QPSK wireless bandwidth, 700MHz center operating frequency, 1W transmit power, transmitter antenna 3dBi around, Receiving double glass fiber antenna gain of about 10dBi, distance of up to 16km (video smooth); our own road test in Shenzhen, the launch end on the flyover, ordinary hose antenna (about 3dBi gain), 340MHz launch, QPSK 8M Bandwidth, a fiberglass antenna at the receiving end, and a Yagi antenna, about 2.2 meters high on the pole, 2.2 kilometers away, high-definition video smooth, a small amount of high-rise buildings between the transmitter and receiver, the road visually about 20 degrees bending. Due to conditional restrictions, no further road tests were made.

Advanced Features in Detail
1. High-Sensitivity Dual Antenna Reception
The COFDM-905R utilizes dual-antenna diversity reception technology, which dynamically selects the stronger signal path to ensure smooth, uninterrupted video. This significantly reduces the risk of video dropout or frame loss, even in environments with high interference, multipath fading, or partial obstructions. The sensitivity level of -100±1dBm guarantees reliable reception over long distances.
2. Flexible Frequency & Bandwidth Configuration
The system supports a broad frequency range from 160MHz to 860MHz, making it adaptable to various regulatory environments and mission requirements. Users can configure the center frequency and wireless bandwidth (e.g., 2MHz, 4MHz, 8MHz) via the CFG serial port or the included configuration panel. This flexibility allows operators to balance transmission distance, data throughput, and interference avoidance.
3. Low-Latency HD Video Decoding
Featuring an integrated H.264 hardware decoder, the COFDM-905R can handle 1080P@60fps high-definition video streams with minimal delay. When paired with the COFDM-905T transmitter, the system achieves an end-to-end video delay as low as 60ms at 720P@60, and around 130ms at 1080P@60 under optimized conditions. This makes the receiver ideal for real-time applications such as UAV piloting, live broadcasting, and tactical surveillance.
4. Versatile Audio/Video Outputs
-
HDMI Output (Type-A): Delivers uncompressed digital video and audio for professional monitoring equipment.
-
CVBS Output (RCA): Provides analog video and audio output for compatibility with legacy systems.
-
USB Output: Streams video directly to a smartphone, tablet, or PC for portable display and analysis.
This multi-interface design ensures seamless integration into a wide variety of setups.
5. Data Transmission and Configuration
Beyond video, the receiver provides a transparent UART data port that can transmit telemetry, command, or sensor data alongside the video stream. A separate CFG serial port allows configuration of operating parameters, including:
-
Center frequency
-
Wireless bandwidth
-
Decryption password (for encrypted transmission)
This makes the COFDM-905R not just a video receiver, but also a versatile wireless data terminal.
6. Recording and Storage
The receiver supports TF cards, USB flash drives, or external USB hard disks for local video recording. The built-in recording management system automatically prioritizes TF cards, followed by USB storage. This function ensures that mission-critical footage can be securely logged and reviewed later.
7. On-Screen Display (OSD) Diagnostics
With the integrated OSD button, users can choose to display or hide real-time system parameters over the video output. Displayed information includes:
-
Frequency and bandwidth
-
Modulation scheme (e.g., QPSK)
-
Coding rate and guard interval
-
Signal strength per antenna (SIG1, SIG2)
-
Bit error rates (BER1, BER2)
-
Air interface rate and video bitrate
-
Encryption status
-
Recording status
This diagnostic overlay is invaluable for field technicians and UAV operators, providing immediate insight into system performance without the need for external tools.
8. Indicators and User Controls
-
Link Indicator: Shows wireless link status (steady when connected, blinking when active).
-
REC Indicator: Flashes when recording is active.
-
PWR Indicator: Confirms system power.
-
REC Button: One-touch start/stop recording.
-
OSD Button: Toggle display of system information.
These intuitive indicators and controls simplify operation in high-pressure field environments.
Performance and Real-World Applications
The COFDM-905R excels in both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) scenarios. Its strong anti-multipath capability allows it to maintain stable reception in urban environments, through foliage, or in mountainous terrain.
Transmission Distance Examples:
-
Customer UAV Test: At 700MHz, QPSK 4MHz bandwidth, 1W transmit power, and 100m altitude, the system achieved 16 km of stable, smooth video transmission using dual 10dBi fiberglass antennas at the receiver.
-
Road Test in Shenzhen: With 340MHz center frequency, 8MHz bandwidth, 1W transmitter power, and a simple 3dBi antenna at the transmitter, the system maintained clear video at 2.2 km, despite obstructions and multipath conditions.
These results demonstrate that actual performance depends on antenna selection, environment, frequency, and bandwidth settings, but the COFDM-905R consistently delivers long-range, stable results.
